B.Arts Sc., B.Mus., J.D.
Lawyer
Matt is the most recent addition to the Carson Law team and his positive impact on his colleagues and clients was immediate. Prior to joining us from another local firm, Matt's career spanned 14 years of practice in personal injury, estate litigation, and family law. Now, his work focuses on helping clients in a less adversarial capacity with estate and business planning.
Matt’s calm, considerate, and approachable demeanor allows him to handle difficult conversations about death, health issues, family dynamics, and future planning with ease. He also excels in simplifying complex corporate transactions, ensuring clients fully understand their rights and responsibilities.
Before attending law school at the University of Toronto, Matt’s diverse educational background includes two undergraduate degrees in Arts & Science and Music, as well as a diploma in vocal performance, all from McMaster University. This then makes sense that, outside of work, he enjoys listening to and making music.
Matt is an accomplished coach of the McMaster Women’s Ultimate Frisbee team, which has (so far) won three national championships under his leadership. Professionally, he is also proud of his twice-successful representation at the Ontario Court of Appeal in a challenging motorcycle injury case.
Matt credits his ability to build strong relationships with clients through active listening and understanding them as individuals first.
